NoonSong - Song & Prayer

Evangelists
and saints are not only venerated in the Catholic Church; the Protestant Church
also values these people as role models. The psalm texts chosen for today's
feast of St Mark the Evangelist describe such role models: people who are
persistently searching, who also lose their way and ultimately follow their
path of charity unwaveringly. This is movingly expressed in the music of
Heinrich Schütz and the little-known Italian Renaissance composer Rondini.

Liturgie: Hochfest des Evangelisten Markus

  • Preces: John Reading (ca. 1645-1692): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 71b Crisostomo Rondini (1576-1628): Quantas ostendisti mihi
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 119f Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672): Zeige mir, Herr, den Weg
  • Canticum: John Ireland (1879-1962): Benedictus in C
  • Choral: Philibert Jambe de Fer (um 1515-1572): Ich lobe Dich von ganzer Seelen

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music fans and architecture enthusiasts gather for NoonSong. It is both a concert and a church service, developed from Anglican Evensong. Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin perform choral music under the direction of Stefan Schuck. The repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary compositions.
