4th Event in the Series “Subversive Art? – On Resistance Through Accusation and Escape”

Subversive art? – On resistance through accusation and escape. An upright posture in the Second German Dictatorship was just as necessary as in the first, because dictatorships deprive people of freedom and thus of their dignity. “Freedom and dignity are always concrete,” writes the author Herta Müller. People protested in order to preserve their dignity. This protest was diverse and is expressed most powerfully through art.

What significance does the Second German Dictatorship have for our country today? Do we not need common goals in order to shape the future together? For this, however, we need not only a general image of ourselves and our country, but we must also identify with each other’s respective pasts. Only those who have a past have a future, and only if we have a shared past can we have a shared future.
