With the “Lineages” concert series, the Spielende Insel ensemble continues its artistic exploration of musical interconnections and relationships.

A special focus is placed on Johannes Brahms’ piano quartets, which, as a defining part of our musical heritage, are explored from various perspectives in ever-changing programs.

At the same time, the concerts open up space for further themes and perspectives, allowing connections between works, schools, and cultural spheres to be heard and experienced.

LINEAGES IV – Paris–London

  • Camille Saint-Saëns – Barcarolle, Op. 108
  • Claude Debussy – String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10
  • Edward Elgar – Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 84

With LINEAGES IV – Paris–London, the series embarks on new paths on September 20. Works by Saint-Saëns and Debussy meet Elgar’s late-Romantic Piano Quintet, creating a dialogue between French and British musical worlds around 1900.
