This event understands queer Roma performance as a practice of reappropriation. The works presented aim to reclaim bodies, gestures, narratives, and aesthetics that have been historically misinterpreted, exoticized, or erased—not for the sake of mere visibility, but as a political act.
The participating artists employ exaggeration, refusal, alienation, and disruption as strategies of (re)presentation. Embedded within Rom*nja Power Month, the performance situates itself within queer Roma resistance movements that insist on autonomy rather than legibility. Personal narratives intertwine with collective histories, making reappropriation tangible as a practice of resistance.
The performance is part of Rom*nja Power Month, a festival by Romaniphen e.V. in cooperation with Ballhaus Prinzenallee and Queerdos Collective.
