The Waldsiedlung Zehlendorf, built between 1926 and 1932, is one of the major works of the famous architect Bruno Taut. It will be celebrated at the 2026 World Heritage Festival. The festival celebrates the beauty, colorfulness, and cheerfulness of this unique ensemble.

At the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, on July 25, 2026, it was announced that the Zehlendorf Forest Settlement had been inscribed as the seventh component of the “Berlin Modernist Settlements” World Heritage Site.
One hundred years after the cornerstone was laid for the Zehlendorf Forest Settlement, visitors can look forward to a vibrant program of the World Heritage Festival filled with architecture, music, art, poetry, and culinary delights.
The diverse program for all generations invites visitors to explore the original sites—whether outdoors or inside the housing estate. Musicians, experts, residents, and guests come together to breathe life into the architecture.
Through concerts, workshops, open-air cinema, salons, and guided tours, you can experience how a new social force emerges from lived community—then, now, and paving the way for the future.
