MS Hoppetosse
Welcome aboard
The MS Hoppetosse is anchored in Berlin's Osthafen, between the Arena, Club and Badeschiff. The club of the same name stands out from other party hotspots in the city, not only because of its unique location in a ship that is almost a hundred years old . With its internationally renowned techno and house nights and as the floating sister of the Club der Visionäre, the Hoppetosse is one of the established greats of Berlin's club scene.
From the depths of the sea to Berlin's Osthafen
The historic ship looks back on an impressive history. Built on the Baltic Sea in 1928, the MS Hoppetosse initially sailed as an excursion steamer before serving as a hospital ship during the Second World War. After being hit by a bomb in 1944, the ship sank off Travemünde and was only raised and restored years later. In the 1990s, the Hoppetosse finally found its way to Berlin: it was sawn in half, towed along the waterways and reassembled in the Osthafen. Today, it is the largest ship anchored here – and by far the liveliest since the club opened in the early 2000s.
A floating temple of electronic music
On the deck of the Hoppetosse, you can expect a sea of electronic sounds ranging from minimal to techno and house, carried by an impressive sound system. The booking policy here follows a clear line: no mass-produced acts, but selected artists – a mix of Berlin scene greats and international guests. The nights on board are long and often end on the sun deck with a view of the historic Oberbaum Bridge.
Our tips
- The special location of the MS Hoppetosse becomes particularly clear when the sun rises after a night of dancing. In the front part of the upper deck, you can enjoy the sunrise from comfortable benches!
- At the Hoppetosse, you won't find mainstream charts, but rather a select mix of house, techno and underground sounds.
