Botany Battle for plant enthusiasts – tree climbing for kids – explorations for gardening enthusiasts and city dwellers

In the Botany Battle, plant enthusiasts put their knowledge to the test: they compete on stage in a highly entertaining plant identification contest. Children can take their first steps in professional tree climbing—with ropes, harnesses, and supervision. The educational gardens on the Späth grounds invite you to visit. These include the unique variety garden with 450 woody plants of different genera, species, and varieties—from maple to cypress. In the picturesque garden biotope by the carp pond, a new botanical garden featuring contemporary perennials, woody plants, and art installations invites you to stroll and marvel.

As the central educational garden, Weltacker Berlin offers experiences for children, teens, and adults focused on sustainable interaction with nature. At the Green Hands-On Forum during the traditional festival, visitors of all ages can get involved—at stations ranging from fruit tree pruning to urban gardening. And the Späth Arboretum at Humboldt University is also reopening its doors after a long closure, inviting visitors to explore this fascinating historic arboretum featuring a pond and rock garden.

Fairy Tales – Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides – Watercolors and Crafts on the Art Meadow

The Monbijou Theater delights children and their parents in the Black Barn with fairy tale performances in its very own unique style. Storyteller Ellen Luckas enchants the little ones with fairy tales set to music. A ride in a horse-drawn carriage takes families to hidden corners of the tree nursery grounds.

Whether young or old—everyone is invited to the Art Meadow in the Scheunenviertel to creatively explore nature through watercolor painting with pencils and brushes. At a craft station for children, eye-catching decorations for the garden, balcony, and home are created using natural materials.

A Colorful Fall Festival with 120 exhibitors, music, and a packed program

Späth’s Tree Nurseries invite you to a colorful garden and nature weekend—kicking off the best planting season of the year and a golden late summer. Pomologist Dr. Hilmar Schwärzel, also known as the “Apple Pope,” will be on hand to identify fruit varieties. Visitors are welcome to bring fruits and leaves for identification. Rhyming storyteller Theo Theodor, portraying company founder Christoph Späth, entertains the crowd with anecdotes and skillfully hosts the program on stage.

All program activities are free with a single admission ticket. Guests also receive a 10 percent discount on all plants at Späth’s nurseries with their admission ticket.
