In 120 minutes, 11 scenes, 6 songs and with only nine props – including a cap, a hand puppet, sunglasses, a sword, a cajón and a piano, as well as the typical Wartke ingredients – intelligent wordplay and elegant cascades of rhyme – Bodo Wartke manages to breathe life into the 14 characters of the tragedy without undermining the credibility of the story with his humorous adaptation.
