In the summer of 2025, 5 ½ silver denarii caused a sensation. They were discovered during excavations in Berlin-Mitte and are now on display at the PETRI. What kind of coins are they? How old are they, what can be seen on them? How much were they worth?

In the workshop room, we take a close look at them and other medieval coins as replicas. You can mint your own denarii, pennies and hollow pennies on silver foil and take your own coin treasure home with you.
Drop-in workshop
- This offer is aimed at all visitors aged 6 and over.
- You will find it on the 5th floor of the PETRI, join us at any time (up to 20 minutes before closing time)!
- Admission is free for children and young people up to the age of 18.
- Adults pay admission: 6 euros / reduced 3 euros
- Participation is free of charge for all visitors.
