LAS Art Foundation

Bright visions for the present and future

Questioning the present and creating visions of the future - you will do nothing less in the immersive exhibitions of the LAS Art Foundation. The thematic spectrum ranges from profound decisions in multiple universes to our relationship with flower-pollinating insects. So it's a powerful experience - and plenty of opportunities to get to know yourself and experience interdisciplinary art.

Rediscover familiar places with immersive exhibitions

If there's one thing the LAS Art Foundation is not, it's 08/15. The art institution thrives on constantly reinventing itself and breaking down the boundaries between the individual disciplines. That's why you won't find an exhibition space that is constantly being reorganised during your visit. Instead, the LAS Art Foundation goes to where life is happening in Berlin and brings the Immersive art to the people.

With the new, fascinating immersive exhibition "We felt a star dyingin", the LAS Foundation transforms the raw industrial backdrop of Kraftwerk Berlin into a poetic world of experience. Immerse yourself in this multi-sensory installation in which French artist and filmmaker Laure Prouvost combines art with quantum science and invites visitors to rethink the limits of perception and technology. With the help of a quantum computer, Prouvost creates surreal video worlds, complemented by sound, scent and sculptural elements that are tuned to quantum phenomena. The 3,500 square metre post-industrial backdrop of the Kraftwerk enhances the experience and makes the mysterious, counter-intuitive logic of quantum physics impressively tangible.

Where: Kraftwerk Berlin, Köpenicker Straße 60, Mitte
When: until 4. May, Tuesday to Friday 3 - 9 pm, Saturday & Sunday 12 - 8 pm, Special opening hours for schools and families on Tuesday 11 am - 2 pm

LAS at the Museum für Naturkunde: Pollinator Pathmaker

Get ready for living works of art with pollinator insects at the Museum of Natural History. The garden in front of the museum is currently focussing on the most important helpers of mankind - insects. However, the human-centred view of the little animals as helpers is being called into question here. Although we benefit from the work of bees and other insects, this does not mean that they do their work especially for us. In this interactive exhibition, you can find out about the needs of pollinator insects in the face of climate change and what we can do for them.

Highlights of the LAS Art Foundation:

  • When you visit the LAS Art Foundation, you will immerse yourself in immersive experiences and worlds. You will question your own preconceptions and adopt a new perspective on life on earth.
  • Discover art away from large exhibition venues in people's everyday lives. The interactive exhibitions use digital techniques to penetrate to the very core of what it means to be human.
  • Cross disciplinary boundaries and discover a comprehensive and topical range of themes from artificial intelligence to ecology, biotechnology and quantum computing.

Your visit to the LAS Art Foundation

The exhibitions and installations at the LAS Art Foundation thrive on your interaction. Unlike in traditional art venues, here you can (and should) actively participate. Because art must change, according to the credo that is lived out in the immersive exhibitions. So get ready to immerse yourself deeply in the respective themes during your visit and get involved. You will question any prejudices you may have as well as your own role in current social and ecological changes. And that is just as intentional - because without questioning, no change will take place.
