KitKatClub

Kink & Electro

Inspired by the legendary club from the musical "Cabaret", KitKat creates the backdrop for a modern version of Berlin's provocative nightlife. Social norms, sexual roles and aesthetic conventions are deliberately challenged. And so KitKat embodies part of what many people perceive Berlin to be: crossing the boundaries of taboo and redefining oneself - through music, movement, physicality and community.

The KitKatClub was founded in 1994 at the height of the techno movement in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The exciting and special thing about "Kitty", as the regulars affectionately call it, is the mix of people - the style of music, as well as the very sexually permissive element, brings everyone in Berlin's nightlife together. The boundaries between social classes, generations and identities are dissolving.

Architecture & utilisation

The KitKatClub space is not a grand ballroom, but plays with the industrial, raw backdrop in its aesthetics. Aesthetically, the ultraviolet light installations and fluorescent paintings with the typical Berlin sound create an almost surreal space for encounters. There are three dance floors, bar areas, dark alcoves and separees, an outdoor area and the legendary pool create diverse spaces for different experiences.

Cultural relevance today

In its more than 30-year history, the KitKatClub has repeatedly challenged conventions and shifted the idea of who we are, how we love and how we are allowed to celebrate. Today, KitKat is best known for its permissiveness, sex positivity, extraordinary performances and fetish aesthetics. At the same time, consensuality between the revellers is a top priority; nobody should have to do anything here, but everyone is also given the freedom to be who they want to be.

Different party series and club nights appeal to a diverse audience. From Electric Monday and Tango Rouge nights to the very revealing Nachspiel. The best way to find out more is via the social media channels of the club and the organising collectives. The KitKatClub is located in the immediate vicinity of Heinrich-Heine-Straße underground station. The legendary Tresor Club in the Kraftwerk is also not far away.

Frequently asked questions about the KitKatClub

What is the dress code?

Creativity, fetish aesthetics, expressive, provocative clothing or even partial freedom of movement are welcome. Everyday casual clothing alone is not usually sufficient. The door staff pay attention to appearance, mood and high aesthetic standards

How does entry to the KitKatClub work?

Admission often starts late (from 11 p.m. or midnight) and depends heavily on the event and the door team. There is no guaranteed entry - even with online tickets. If you are friendly, open and dressed appropriately for the evening, you have a better chance. Mood and group dynamics also play a role.

Is there a cloakroom and facilities for changing?

Yes, the cloakroom also has space for bags, rucksacks and a change of clothes. Many visitors arrive in everyday clothes and change into imaginative outfits or fetish wear on site.

Is it allowed to take photos or film in the club?

Strictly no. To protect the privacy of all guests, filming of any kind is prohibited. Cameras and smartphones are often labelled with stickers or seals. Anyone taking photos anyway will have to leave the club.
