Yet eating disorders are among the most dangerous mental health conditions of all. But where does an eating disorder begin and where does health-conscious eating end?
Between calorie counting, fad diets and high-protein meals, the lines become blurred, often without people realising it. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health pressures amongst children and young people have also been rising, and with them the risk of developing an eating disorder.
How do social media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube and Instagram influence our eating habits and body image? What must we, as a society, do to promote a healthy body image and prevent eating disorders from the outset? And what further changes need to be made in the media and healthcare system to ensure that those affected can find help at an earlier stage?
- At the ZEIT FORUM Health, Sophia Thiel, Prof. Katharina Timper and Prof. Stephan Zipfel will discuss these and many other questions.
This series of events is organised in cooperation with the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation (EKFS).
The event is free of charge. Registration is requested.
