Marcos Morau, an award-winning choreographer and artist-in-residence at the Staatsballett Berlin, uses his distinctive stage worlds to evoke familiar places, which he simultaneously transports into dreamlike and surreal realms.

Wunderkammer
The title *Wunderkammer* refers to the historical *wunderkammern*, also known as cabinets of curiosities, which served as collections of extraordinary and “curious” objects in Renaissance and Baroque Europe. In these *wunderkammern*, “exotic” and fascinating objects were gathered and brought together.
Marcos Morau takes this as his starting point and transforms the stage into a place full of surprises and unexpected perspectives in order to pose his personal take on the question of the “other.”
In doing so, he brings to life echoes of Berlin’s club culture and the cabarets of the Weimar Republic. His scenes open up spaces of freedom and otherness, where boundaries dissolve and people are free to experiment through play, transformation, and ecstasy.
The play thus becomes a celebration of diversity, a tribute to the “sanctuary of the night,” where identities are celebrated, norms are questioned, and transformations become tangible. At the same time, Morau draws on universal themes: the longing for belonging and the need to define one’s own identity in an increasingly complex world. In this way, *Wunderkammer* becomes a theatrical mirror of our times.
