Under the slogan “WINE in the CITY”, Family & Friends is bringing its first wine market to Breitscheidplatz – and with it, a brand-new city event to the capital.

Where the Ku’damm, the Gedächtniskirche and City-West meet, a new hub for wine, fine dining, music and the Berlin way of life is taking shape.

Ten family-run wineries from the Moselle, Nahe, Baden, Württemberg and the Palatinate will be serving their wines, whilst culinary delights such as snack platters and tarte flambée provide the perfect accompaniment.

For a few days, Breitscheidplatz will thus become a lively, wine-loving hub – right in the heart of a Berlin autumn, right in the centre of City-West.

“Deep in the West”

A detour from the Ku’damm – the famous shopping boulevard; a glass of wine in front of the Gedächtniskirche; a meet-up with friends after a spot of shopping; or a spontaneous stop on your way through the city centre: the new wine festival format ‘WINE in the CITY’ combines moments of indulgence with the rhythm of the vibrant City-West.

The setting:

Berlin’s Breitscheidplatz – with its vibrant architecture, street life and city traffic, nestled between the historic Gedächtniskirche and the shopping mecca Bikini-Haus.

Amidst wine bottles, glasses and harmonious market stalls, a temporary space emerges where Berliners, students and visitors can meet in a relaxed atmosphere, sample German and European wines, and chat with 10 genuine producers – people who craft their wines with great dedication, high standards of quality and artisanal care – all in a laid-back setting.

“We’re looking forward to adding a new highlight to City-West with the Family & Friends wine market.

Breitscheidplatz offers just the right mix of Berlin landmarks, vibrant life and international flair,” says Christina Aue, Head of the AG City office, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is organising this event in collaboration with Family & Friends.
