On warm days, Tempelhofer Feld is teeming with life—and not just because of us humans. Among the meadows, flowers, and sandy areas, numerous species of wild bees buzz about, having found an important habitat here.

When people talk about bee decline, many first think of the honeybee. Yet several hundred other bee species live in Germany, most of which are solitary: they do not form colonies and care for their offspring alone. It is precisely these wild bees that are indispensable pollinators and often significantly outperform honeybees in their pollination efforts.

On a joint journey of discovery across Tempelhofer Feld, you’ll learn about the fascinating diversity of wild bees, discover exciting facts about their way of life and their ecological importance—and explore practical ways you can personally contribute to protecting and promoting wild bee diversity.
