As a politician and representative of a post-migrant generation, Marcel Hopp brings a fresh perspective to the debate on the shift to the right and the threats to democracy. His book shows just how much politics influences everyday life; it critiques political failings, raises awareness of fundamental democratic values and provides a political compass for action in times of crisis.
Marcel Hopp (born 1988) is the child of a guest worker, a politician, a teacher and an influencer, and sits as an SPD member in the Berlin House of Representatives. Time and again, he seeks to convey what politics is, at its core: something that concerns us all! In a democracy, everyone can play a part in shaping it.
On Instagram, TikTok and as the podcast host of ‘Power of Color’ and ‘Hopps genommen’, he shares experiences and issues relating to BIPoCs and stories of migration. He discusses current political issues and consistently raises awareness of fundamental democratic values.
