Yet certain weather phenomena mean very different things: What Europeans consider hot may be perceived as cool near the equator. A week of rain is far from constituting a rainy season. Despite these differences in perception, climate change affects the local weather of everyone. Understanding the interconnection of all weather phenomena may hold the key to a responsible approach to our environments.
In his latest piece, choreographer Christoph Winkler—winner of the German Dance Prize—brings climate change to life for children and young people.
It uses dance—one of the oldest forms of expression, which has always depicted humanity’s relationship with nature and its immediate environment. The production draws on traditional dances from various cultures that thematically explore weather and nature.
The action is framed by a stage set that transforms into landscapes or weather phenomena, created using Holovision technology.
