Sonja Eschefeld
The exhibition offers a glimpse into the artist’s creative process and invites visitors to discover her unique perspective on her subjects and themes. The focus is on the works on display and Sonja Eschefeld’s distinctive visual language.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve entertained myself with paper, pencils, and paints, with cardboard and fabrics—gluing, creating, and communicating without words. It was a kind of soliloquy that my parents hardly ever noticed.
The joy a child feels when painting, cutting things apart, and putting them back together as part of play exists without intention and without a defined goal. Once experienced, one will seek it out again and again, throughout one’s entire life. It is a part of the artist and should not be lost, nor should anyone talk them out of it.”
Sonja Eschefeld, 2006
