The Kantorei and Studiochor Karlshorst will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s *Messa da Requiem* on 8 November 2026
With his Requiem, Verdi – known primarily as an opera composer – created a work of great dramatic power and, at the same time, of heartfelt, quiet intensity.
From the stirring ‘Dies irae’ – the Day of Wrath – to the pleas for salvation and peace, the music unfolds a wide range of human emotions: grief, fear, doubt and hope. The November performance thus takes up themes that characterise this month of remembrance for the dead.
‘The Requiem is a work that is both profound and magnificent,’ writes Cornelia Ewald. The Kantorei Karlshorst has been preparing for the performance since last year.
The solo parts will be performed by Alessia Schumacher (soprano), Irene Schneider (mezzo-soprano), Volker Arndt (tenor) and Karim Elias Meyer (bass).
