The Ugly Duckling: Today, more than ever, in a world that oscillates between individualism and egalitarianism, Hans Christian Andersen’s *The Ugly Duckling*, directed by long-standing ensemble member Michael Schwager, takes on new relevance.

For adults, it is a confrontation with their own judgements, with exclusion and with the courage to determine one’s own destiny. For children, it offers comfort and guidance – an invitation to recognise their own difference as a strength.

A fairy tale for ‘ducks big and small’ that illuminates the depths and hopes of human existence with wit, poetry and sincerity. A play that encourages us to celebrate our own uniqueness – and to recognise the unfamiliar not as a threat, but as an enrichment.

Cast:

  • Andreas Klopp and Michael Schwager

The Golden Goose

The first human chain in history. A young lad travels halfway across the fairy-tale kingdom with his wondrous golden goose under his arm, and people cling to it, following him in single file. Is that funny? And will this good-for-nothing manage to make the king’s sad daughter laugh and marry her in the end? Plenty of good material for a farce in the style of *Hexenkessel*. Joining the ‘Grimminelle’ cast are Vlad Chiriac as the king, who refuses to give his daughter away to a mere upstart, and veteran actress Carsta Zimmermann in various roles, who will teach the king a lesson with her quick wit.

  • For adults only – admission from 14 years of age
