RUDERS, BEETHOVEN, ZEMLINSKY
“Learning a completely new piece, shaping it yourself from the first to the last note, always reminds me of mental gymnastics—there are no recordings, no interpretations to guide you,” says Soo-Kyung Hong, the cellist of Trio con Brio Copenhagen. The German premiere of Poul Ruders’s Piano Trio, which the Danish composer wrote for the ensemble in 2020, opens the three musicians’ concert, who have become regular guests at the Pierre Boulez Saal. The program also includes Beethoven’s famous “Ghost Trio” and Alexander Zemlinsky’s Piano Trio, which gives evidence of the 25-year-old composer’s admiration for Brahms.
