When European Baroque instruments—the recorder, viola da gamba, and harpsichord—meet the Japanese instruments shakuhachi, shamisen, and koto, a soundscape emerges that has rarely, if ever, been heard in this form.

Doppelmond und Zeitschleife
The Baroque ensemble Zeitschleife and the ensemble Doppelmond initiate a musical dialogue between two far-removed traditions.
The program centers on five world premieres, composed specifically for this lineup by composers from Japan, the U.S., Austria, and Germany. The program is complemented by two historical works: the traditional Japanese trio “Shin Musume Dojoji” and a trio sonata by Georg Philipp Telemann.
In this way, the past becomes not a museum, but a living space of resonance from which something new emerges. Between eras, strings, and cultures, a musical “in-between” emerges—a place where the familiar becomes audible anew.
