The starting point for his installation Like Always are handwritten, stamped postcards from all over the world. Large-scale ink drawings with motifs of media-influenced memory overlay the collection of postcards assembled into a tapestry. Roland Stratmann combines messages and standard formulations from the mass of collective messages with pictorial motifs detached from their original context. Symbols of intercultural misjudgements and interpretations emerge.
