The exhibition juxtaposes two distinct eras, geographical landscapes, and photographic methodologies.
Michael Grecco’s Days of Punk series provides a fierce, firsthand documentary account of the late 1970s and 1980s Boston music scene.
Capturing legendary artists on stage and behind the scenes, Grecco’s high-contrast, kinetic imagery embodies the raw energy, sound, and defiance of a movement breaking away from societal norms.
In contrast, Per Schorn’s The Photo Booth Book shifts the focus from the chaotic public stage to a controlled, highly democratic space. Over several years, Schorn traveled with a mobile, analog-style photo booth, inviting over 400 musicians and alternative subculture figures to step inside. The resulting unscripted, self-directed portraits strip away the performance persona, offering a raw, quiet look into the individuals who form the backbone of the scene.
