2026 Book Tour

Thomas Fritzsching is the initiator, founder, and namesake of the Berlin band "Silly." From 1977 to 1994, he was the band’s guitarist and leader. He had a vision for a band that would be distinctly different from all other East German rock bands.

In his search for new directions, it was a two-month club tour in Amsterdam that inspired him greatly and encouraged him to put his idea into action.

The early years were tough. Without Thomas Fritzsching, “Silly” would not have survived. Time and again, he sought and found solutions, even in seemingly hopeless situations. But in the end, his strategy paid off.

In his book, he describes the long road to success—the adversities and the emotional rollercoaster between euphoria and despair; the attempts by those in power within state institutions to destroy the band by any means necessary; and the solidarity of a close-knit community, as well as human weaknesses, disappointments, selfishness, and external temptations.
