Farewell tour

Thomas Freitag brings his new programme to a close. For the dreams of a better future once held by Thomas, a child of the post-war era, have now turned into nightmares – and the anger this provokes does not leave him unmoved.

With his immense acting talent, his experience and his age, he takes the audience by the hand and leads them on his ‘retreat across the mines of the plain’. When he acts the fool in a Kafkaesque manner, it is only because he wishes to confront the seriousness of life with the cheerfulness of art. He exposes the human hubris of feeling fundamentally superior to animals.

Humankind is no poor wretch simply because it cannot cope with digital achievements, AI, addictive substances, wealth and honour. Yet it is humankind that immediately follows every positive achievement with its abuse – no wretch would do such a thing. And so, more than a few are given a good telling-off once again. But not a brainwashing, for there, it seems, others have already done a thorough job.

And since Thomas Freitag’s parodies are legendary, the bigwigs from heaven naturally have their say too – for they are the ones who suffer most at the hands of the current ground crew.
