A series of salon events on death – literature, music, discussions & information

Following three successful events, the salon series continues. People want to live – and die – as cheerfully and independently as possible. “Jetzt ist Sense!” breaks the silence. Beforehand, they give too little thought to their need to say goodbye. The more they engage with this, the more valuable it becomes to have a plan for an emergency – a personalised farewell. Because the more freely people deal with it, the easier it becomes. They let death into their lives. The theatre comes to an end at some point.

The six-part salon series “That’s it!” (A cheerful and varied evening on the subject of mortality) continues with its fourth event. Once again, the line-up changes. You are warmly invited on Thursday, 15 October 2026, at 7.30 pm.

The venue this time is: Marie im Bundestag (Adele-Schreiber-Krieger-Straße 1, 10117 Berlin, in the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, entrance directly on the River Spree).

Admission is free. Due to limited seating capacity, please register in advance online or by telephone: 030 206 794 12.

Ms zu Kappenstein is the curator of the series. The event is organised by the Freundeskreis Tina Modotti Archiv e.V., a charitable association, in partnership with the Allgemeine Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverein Berlin gegr. 1874 e.V. (ABSV).

We would like to thank the LOTTO Foundation Berlin for its support.

Performing at the fourth talk with music and readings, ‘Jetzt ist Sense’, are: Sigrid Grajek (host), the Mexican band Mariachi Internacional El Dorado, and the authors Andra Joeckle, Christine Kahlau, Waltraud Schade and Jenny Schon. Also featuring as a special act is a discussion on the Mexican Day of the Dead with Florence Rojas Keyser and Eleonore Häring de Vázquez.

An anthology entitled ‘Schluss! Aus! Sense!’ has been published to accompany the salon series, edited by Frau zu Kappenstein and Elke Hübener-Lipkau, with illustrations by Antje Püpke.

Do make a note of the next dates for “Jetzt ist Sense!”:

Thursday 12 November 2026; Wednesday 9 December 2026.

Renate Koßmann is responsible for the photographic documentation of the event.
