From design proposals to Nazi propaganda – The tenant magazines of EINFA and GEHAG 1930–1939:

The exhibition focuses on the monthly tenant magazines published by EINFA between 1930 and 1939. EINFA was part of the GEHAG housing association and reflects the political upheavals experienced by the company, which had its roots in the left-wing political spectrum, hired Bruno Taut as its chief architect, and planned many important New Building residential complexes until 1933.

These include the Hufeisensiedlung in Neukölln-Britz, the Waldsiedlung Zehlendorf, the Wohnstadt Carl Legien in Prenzlauer Berg, and the AFA-Höfe in Treptow.

Until mid-1933, the magazines focused on the home and garden, functional furnishings, and healthy living. After GEHAG was brought into line with Nazi ideology, the layout changed first, followed later by the content, so that more and more Nazi propaganda found its way into the pages.

The special exhibition complements the permanent exhibition on the Hufeisensiedlung in the neighboring room.

The exhibition is part of the conference program for “100 Years of the Hufeisensiedlung” and part of the “Triennale der Moderne” festival.
