Somewhere between heart-pounding excitement and loss of control, twenty Berlin teens and a teen band are exploring the theme of transformation.
Transformation on a small scale and a large one, in minds, bodies, rooms, and (in a frighteningly delightful dimension) the world. A new wall color for a cool video. A bold decision for a better future. A different hair color as identity.
A new beginning as a prerequisite for something we don’t yet know.
TEENIE TIMES sees the world as something in motion:
- What can we influence?
- Where does agency begin—and how does it feel?
At the center of change: the amygdala. A small, vibrating archive of fear, desire, and anger. Here, emotions are not explained, but ignited.
Here the question arises: With what forces do people reshape the world for new times?
Twenty Berlin teenagers and a youth band from the Teeny Musiktreff are collaborating with the production team led by Pauline Jacob and Lisa Florentine Schmalz from the music theater collective staatsoper24, with performance artist Anne Pretzsch, composer Dariya Maminova, and bandleader Lukas Macher. They are developing texts, songs, and music theater scenes about the turbulent phase of life they are currently experiencing themselves.
