Porträt des Journalisten und Verlegers Jakob Augstein
Born in 1967, Augstein studied German literature, theatre studies, and political science in Berlin and Paris. He subsequently worked as a journalist and commentator for publications including Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit. His analyses are widely sought after, whether on political talk shows or in ‘Augstein und Blome.’ What began as a television format has evolved into a weekly podcast and lively exchange of views between the ‘left-wing’ Jakob Augstein and the ‘liberal-conservative’ Nikolaus Blome (Political Editor-in-Chief of RTL and n-tv). Or, as the two themselves might put it: ‘visionary versus pragmatic.’
Jakob Augstein is also the author of several books. In 2017, he published ‘Das Leben wortwörtlich: Ein Vater-Sohn-Gespräch’ together with Martin Walser. In 2024, his novel ‘Die Farbe des Feuers’ was released.
