When the Mongol horsemen invaded Europe in 1241, they appeared to their victims as creatures from hell. Under Genghis Khan and his successors, they conquered the largest empire in history.

Through legislation, the securing of trade routes and the establishment of postal stations, the Mongol rulers created an order within which an intensive exchange of goods and ideas between Asia, Persia and Europe began.

Discover fascinating archaeological finds that tell of the superiority of nomadic horsemen, of early globalisation under the Mongol khans, and of the empires of the Turks and Uyghurs who ruled the steppes before them.
