Virtuoso and spectacularly funny: a concert perfectly synchronized with the film. With his music, Stephan Graf v. Bothmer breathes new life into the best films of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy (Laurel & Hardy), the most successful comedy duo of all time. Live at the grand piano.

Stephan Graf v. Bothmer fills theaters and concert halls on five continents with his spectacular silent film concerts. Divine divas, honorable gentlemen, ruthless crooks, and quirky characters shine in a new light through his music.

The audience seems to be drawn into the film by Bothmer’s newly composed film music.

Precisely because Stephan v. Bothmer’s compositions are contemporary and evocative, the gags feel fresh and unclichéd—they are so immediate that the audience can hardly stop laughing.

On stage stands a screen and a grand piano. But as soon as the lights go out, an adventure through long-forgotten emotions begins, along with a show unlike anything most have ever experienced: “Stephan Graf Bothmer: Stan & Olli – The Show That Makes You Laugh Yourself Healthy.”

His silent film concerts have evolved from film screenings into full-fledged shows featuring musical interludes, supporting films, and live commentary—a completely new event concept with which he has thrilled over 300,000 guests to date: at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, as well as in Berlin at the Admiralspalast, the Wintergarten Varieté, and Berlin Cathedral, and even at the Rock-Pop Festival at Tempelhof Airport following Björk, Blur, and the Pet Shop Boys.

The Stan & Olli Show is currently his most successful show.

Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy, known in this country as Dick and Doof, revolutionized slapstick with their unique slowness.

By the late 1920s, they were at the peak of their art, pioneers in the world of humor, always on the lookout for new forms of expression. Time and again, they find themselves in breakneck situations, sowing chaos and destruction. Cars and houses—symbols of the American Dream—turn into piles of scrap in their wake. The only things they fear are their own courage—and feminine charm.

Stephan Graf v. Bothmer accompanies the films with precision and virtuosity, skillfully highlighting key moments and relationships so that the gags come across as completely fresh and spontaneous. In doing so, he not only brings the comedy to life but also explores the depth of the films with their reflective moments.

Over the past 21 years, he has developed a completely unique compositional approach to his live film music. Through his extreme precision in film music, he creates the creative freedom he needs for his profound interpretation of the films.

“He doesn’t simply set to music what he sees, but translates into sound what the film is trying to say.” (Handelsblatt).

A magnificent spectacle full of wit and good humor. You’ll laugh until you cry!
