Homage to Mascha Kaléko and Herbert Baumann

The musical and literary program by the chanteuse and actress with the distinctively deep voice Alix Dudel pays homage to two unforgettable greats of the Berlin cultural scene, who are celebrating anniversaries this year: Mascha Kaléko and Herbert Baumann.

Mascha Kaléko, whose death will be the 50th anniversary in 2025, shaped literary Berlin in the 1920s and 1930s with her melancholic, playful, and almost timeless poetry, and continues to touch audiences today. Many of her poems were sensitively set to music by the Berlin composer and conductor Herbert Baumann, who would have turned 100 this summer.

Together with the versatile guitarist Sebastian Albert, Alix Dudel brings Mascha Kaléko's poetry to life; the program is complemented by solo guitar pieces by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

A tender and cheerful evening that opens ears and hearts.
