Having grown up in San Francisco, Shannon Callahan was drawn from an early age to the gospel choirs of the churches in her home neighbourhood of Haight-Ashbury. Indeed, the spirit of this legendary neighbourhood – even long after the days of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, hippies and flower power – had already charted the course for the budding musician.

Her journey to becoming a versatile vocalist began with a classical education and an extended period performing on opera and musical theatre stages. However, with a proven talent for songwriting, she quickly made a name for herself as a singer-songwriter with a wide-ranging stylistic repertoire.
Accompanied by Jürgen Heckel – best known for his long-standing fusion jazz band BAJAZZO – and a dynamic rhythm section, Shannon Callahan takes the audience on a ‘sightseeing tour’ through the history of pop, soul and jazz, featuring songs by Chaka Khan, Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye and more.
