AERIALS Ensemble Pottporus e. V., Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia
In the dance piece "Self-Talks," eight dancers explore central questions of identity and self-perception: Who am I without others? How do I behave in a group? Who do I want to be? And above all: Who am I when no one is looking?
The production explores the inner conflicts and struggles that arise when one deals with one's own self. The focus is on self-talk – those inner dialogues that often occur unconsciously yet significantly shape one's thoughts and actions.
These inner voices connect conscious thoughts with unconscious feelings, beliefs, and attitudes. They help us evaluate situations, make decisions, and solve problems. The piece makes these self-talks visible on stage and demonstrates the impact of an inner voice characterized by doubt and negative thoughts.
The dancers powerfully express this self-talk through movement, expression, and body language.
"Self-Talks" invites the audience to immerse themselves in the world of inner experience and reflect on self-reflection, doubt, and inner strength. The result is a sensitive and powerful image of wrestling with one's own inner voice.
