For the tenth time, PURPLE invites young people to experience the diversity of contemporary dance up close and to actively participate in it themselves.

Since its inception in 2017, PURPLE has established itself as a ‘fixture’ (Berliner Morgenpost) in Berlin's cultural scene and will celebrate its anniversary edition from 17 to 25 January 2026.

Eleven dance productions from France, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany will be performed on six stages over nine days

A varied programme is offered for primary school children and young people. The festival's focus (quote from Canan Erek) is movement on stage and in the audience, with themes of friendship, fairness, community and dance as a unifying force.

Workshops for children, young people and school pupils

The heart of the festival is the stage programme, which presents a wide range of choreographic approaches. This is accompanied by an educational programme for school pupils and teachers, which provides low-threshold access to contemporary dance. PURSchü cooperates in the run-up to the festival. The aim is to establish dance as an integral part of everyday school life beyond the festival. The festival also offers free dance workshops for different age groups.

The venues

Uferstudios (Wedding), HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Kreuzberg), jugendtheaterwerkstatt Spandau, Junges Tanz Berlin (Neukölln), Theater an der Parkaue (Lichtenberg), Theater o.N. (Prenzlauer Berg) and Berlin schools provide space for encounters, inspiration and exchange.
