The dialogical tour through the exhibition offers an overview of the history of industrial photography in the coal, steel, chemical, textile and automotive industries.
Using the photographs, advertising brochures and magazines on display, the changing ideas and promises of progress are considered in the historical context of the two German states from the postwar period to 1990.
Using selected photographs, the DHM's education specialists clarify the context and purpose of the photographs and direct the viewer's attention to the motifs and aesthetic means of industrial photography. They also show connections to central themes such as progress, structural change and labor struggles as well as contemporary references and open up the possibility for exchange and discussion.
