Pond Space Night - Images from an Exhibition

Incidentally, “Pictures at an Exhibition” is one of the most popular and well-known classical works, even among younger people. This is due in no small part to the modern versions by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (England) and Isao Tomita (Japan). POND has now added another original arrangement of this work, showcasing all the performance styles of the modern era.

POND’s mastermind, Paule Fuchs, performs the compositional cycle exclusively using his electronic instruments and unusual percussion tools. Projectors are used to visually depict the image being presented musically, and a narrator provides a verbal explanation, allowing the audience to consciously perceive this unity of music and painting.

As early as 1979, POND performed this cycle together with the Cottbus Symphony Orchestra in concerts for schoolchildren, thereby introducing young people to classical music. At evening POND concerts, the older generation is introduced to the modern styles of today. Both represent a true crossover in the truest sense of the word.
