Fun Facts dissects the day, looks beyond the hype to uncover the bigger issues, points out possible solutions, and does it all with a sense of humor. FUN FACTS is being recorded!
Pinar Atalay, born in 1978, grew up as the daughter of a working-class family in Extertal in East Westphalia-Lippe. She became best known for hosting the main newscast on NDR television, the political talk show “phoenix Runde,” and the ARD business magazine “plusminus.” She was the first woman of Turkish descent to host ARD’s “tagesthemen.”
Since August 2021, Pinar Atalay has been a senior journalist at RTL; she hosted the news program “RTL Direkt” for four years until 2025 and co-hosted “Quadrell” with Günther Jauch in February 2025.
Since October 2025, she has been hosting her own political talk show, “Pinar Atalay,” every two weeks on the news channel ntv and remains part of the hosting team for “RTL Aktuell.”
