Ständig
Wächtler, born in 1979 in Hanover, lives and works in Schleswig-Holstein; he develops his work beyond fixed notions of art or categorisation. He writes, films, draws, paints, builds sculptures and film sets to transform familiar genres and narrative styles into a fragile balance of nostalgia, tragedy and absurd humour.
Over two decades, Wächtler has developed his own visual language, which draws on the supposed comfort of the past to interweave contemporary contradictions between self-determination and self-surrender. Bearing the laconic title *Ständig* (Constantly), the exhibition brings together existing and new works, foremost among them a new film of the same name.
