A Short Story Competition
Events during the night, dangerous thoughts in a half-asleep state, repressed memories. Also visions, daydreams and illnesses. It becomes surreal at Ort des Schreibens. Because on 28 February 2026, it will be that time again. A competition will take place. Only the best texts will be presented, and the three-member jury will once again have to decide on the spot – who will win? Who will take home the chest?
Dreams are jealous gods, judged by the One. ‘And when he came to a certain place and wanted to spend the night there because the sun had set, he took one of the stones that lay there and put it under his head and slept in that place.’ - Genesis 28:11
Participation:

Prize:
First place will receive a box containing three items selected by the judges. All appealing stories will also be featured on the website ortdesschreibens.de. Long live literature.
Ruben Maria Granz, born in 2001 and spoiled by the internet, is a writer and braggart. He is the moderator.
Alwon Barni, born in Berlin in 1998. Studied library science in Potsdam. Worked as a librarian in the parliamentary library of the Brandenburg state parliament. Despite his deep connection to the big city, he is a country boy at heart, spending his holidays and vacations in Franconia. As a juror, he says he will award prizes to the entries he likes best, find most moving or most stylishly polished. Let the games begin.
Lorenz Höppner, born in 1991, is a cineaste and Germanist. He calls for courage in tragic storytelling and for the all-too-human to be given a voice. The world is absurd, but the gestures it makes are beautiful.
Rebecca Tanner, 20 years old, has written several short films herself, weaving psychological abysses into our modern everyday life, as well as the call of the fatal. It was precisely this affinity for the hidden depths of every destiny that drove her to study psychology. She is not easily impressed. Will your texts pass the test?
