Commemorative event of the Pankow district office

To mark the first anniversary of Hamas' attack on Israel, the Pankow district office invites you to a public event on Sunday, October 6, 2024 entitled “One year October 7, 2023 - remembering, commemorating, coming together”.


The program includes speeches by the Pankow district mayor Dr. Cordelia Koch, the writer Lea Streisand, the founding director of the New Synagogue - Centrum Judaicum Foundation, Dr. Dr. h.c. Hermann Simon and other guests. The band FOLKADU will provide the musical backdrop.

Remembering the terrible events
The Hamas massacre in Israel on 7 October 2023 represents a deep caesura for Jews in Pankow, associated with re-traumatization, fear and the feeling of constant threat. The terrorist organization murdered 1,200 people in Israel and abducted a further 240 people in the Gaza Strip. In the week following the attack, it called for a worldwide wave of violence against Jews.

An event organized by the Pankow District Office - District Anti-Semitism and Anti-Discrimination Officer - in cooperation with the Museum Pankow as part of Museum Sunday.
