How can theatre be created whilst protests are taking place on the streets in defence of democracy and against a shift towards autocracy? A young Georgian collective combines personal memories with photographs, videos, live music, drag and fiction.

Nothing Political
The starting point for “Nothing Political” is the controversial parliamentary elections of October 2024 and the subsequent protests against the government’s political course, in particular against the abandonment of Georgia’s constitutionally enshrined European integration. The members of the collective who developed the performance took part in the demonstrations in Tbilisi themselves.
On stage, personal memories and documentary material such as photos and footage are interwoven with live music, drag and fiction. Political events become personal stories; personal stories give way to fiction. Navigating between pain, solidarity, humour and hope, “Nothing Political” recounts the protests and brings together voices, gestures and images that resist oblivion. The result is a contradictory, polyphonic archive of a present defined by political resistance.
