Moving, romantic choral music
In today’s NoonSong, you can experience first-hand Mendelssohn’s influence on Anglican church music. Mendelssohn’s popular eight-part motet ‘For he hath commanded his angels’ found its way to England as part of his oratorio ‘Elijah’, where Mendelssohn’s style became a model for several generations of composers, notably Stanford.

NoonSong – what is it?
Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music fans, and architecture enthusiasts gather for NoonSong. It is both a concert and a church service, developed from the Anglican Evensong. Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin perform choral music under the direction of Stefan Schuck. The repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary compositions.
