NoonSong - a choral liturgy every Saturday at noon

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure. Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.

In this NoonSong, listen to an unusual musical programme that spans five centuries of music history.

The famous "Benedictus" by Gesualdo, a composer notorious for his murders, comes across as brooding and sombre, while the songlike psalm setting by the romantic composer Finzenhagen from Magdeburg, which is heard for the first time in NoonSong, is upbeat and light-hearted in the best Mendelssohn tradition.

  • Preces: Antony Baldwin (1957-): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 85 Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-1876): Anglican chant
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 92,2 Ludwig Hermann Otto Finzenhagen (1860-1931): Es ist ein köstlich Ding
  • Canticum: Carlo Gesualdo (1566-1613): Benedictus
  • Choral: Claude Goudimel (ca. 1514-1572): Ich lobe dich von ganzer Seele
