Neneh Boye & Band

It is certainly no coincidence that the release concert is taking place here. Neneh Boye has been familiar with the Ballhaus Naunynstraße for years; she was last seen and heard here with The String Archestra and their very first collaboration with the composers and singers Gonza & Bona Ngoumou, playing to a sold-out house. Now she is making her extended debut: *Warme Tage*.

Neneh Boye’s music moves between soul-pop and R&B, underpinned by soulful German-language lyrics and melodies that convey vulnerability, honesty and authenticity whilst reflecting on social developments. Inspired by the Afro-German poet and activist May Ayim, her songs resonate with conviction and poetry. Neneh Boye’s debut single ‘Boye’ (2024) was followed by ‘Winterluft’, featuring rapper and drummer cesco.blz; this year saw the release of the singles ‘Pistazien & Grüner Tee’ and ‘Augenwinkel’.

Her EP *Warme Tage* tells of nostalgia and love, of identity and profound encounters. In doing so, Neneh Boye aims to create a very special atmosphere in which vulnerability, depth and a shimmering lightness all have their place. The former ballroom on Naunynstraße is likely to be the perfect venue for this.

On this premiere evening, Neneh Boye will be accompanied by five musicians: cesco.blz. on drums and percussion, Philipp Ahovi on piano, and the string trio comprising Daniele Daude, Yassin Sowe and Eurico Ferreira Mathias from the Berlin-based string ensemble The String Archestra.
