435 of the so-called Italian military internees (IMI) were housed at the Schöneweide camp, which is now the site of the Documentation Center for Nazi Forced Labor.
First, participants explore the history and individual stories of the IMIs in the exhibition “Caught Between Two Worlds.” They then follow in the footsteps of Italian and other forced laborers from various countries who were forced to work, among other places, in the nearby industrial area—primarily at the AEG company. During the approximately 1.5-kilometer walk, they will also explore the industrial history of the Schöneweide district.
The tour will be conducted in Italian.
Meeting point: Barrack 2, Documentation Center for Nazi Forced Labor.
No registration is required.
