Accompanying the Family Festival at the Water Tower

On a tour of the “Musica di strada” exhibition, we’ll follow in the footsteps of Italian barrel organ makers, uncover the secret of the bellows, and explore why a piano was built that can play all by itself.

You’ll find out what a serinette is, which pet it was played for—and, above all, why. Children and adults alike are invited to actively explore the exhibition and uncover the secrets of the mechanical musical instruments: How many people worked on building a barrel organ? Can a barrel organ play only one song? What instruments are hidden inside the orchestrion?

Anyone who feels like turning the barrel organ’s crank afterward will be cheered on by the others!
