Final Edition - Musica di strada after work with live performance
In the past, barrel organs and pianolas brought the latest and most popular songs to Berlin’s backyards and salons. The melodies and mechanical instruments still fascinate people today.
At the Museum Pankow, you can listen to popular tunes on real barrel organs, punch-plate music boxes, and organettes after work.
At the same time, there is much to learn about the Italian immigrants who brought the art of barrel organ building to Berlin and founded the world-famous firm Cocchi, Bacigalupo, and Graffigna on Schönhauser Allee. Their grand orchestrion “Fratihymnia,” with its vast repertoire of popular songs and operettas, still invites you to dance today.
- Experience a guided tour of the exhibition in two languages—German and English. Of course, with a live performance on the mechanical instruments.
