Marianne Ludes tells the story of the Beckmanns' life in a lively, entertaining, and exciting way: of deep love, sources of creative inspiration, and an unconventional friendship that is historically documented. The author pays particular tribute to Mathilde Beckmann, née von Kaulbach, who was a violinist and singer but did not pursue her art after marrying Max Beckmann.

After studying economics, Marianne Ludes and her husband built up a large architectural firm. In 2023, they founded the non-profit Ludes Foundation. Marianne Ludes is also involved in cultural activities on a voluntary basis. In 2021, she published “Ludwig Jacobs – oder das verschwundene Leben” (Hanser Verlag), and Trio mit Tiger is her literary debut. Marianne Ludes lives in Potsdam.
